Lieutenant Colonel R.A.R.B.Ramanayake Rsp (Rtd.)

Lt.Col.R.A.R.B.Ramanayake Rsp(Retd) was an officer of the Singhe Regiment and Mechanized Infantry Regiment of Sri Lanka Army and he is a proud old boy of St. Thomas’ College, Matale.

He enlisted in the volunteer force of the Sri Lanka Army in 1991 and has successfully completed the military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy Diyatalawa. He was Commissioned as second lieutenant and posted to the Sri Lanka Singha regiment.

He started his outstanding military career as a platoon commander and held number of command appointments as a battalion commander, 2nd in command and consecutive four years as the commanding office of 5th battalion mechanized infantry regiment and 21st battalion of Sri Lanka national guard. Further, he is privileged to hold variety of distinguished command and staff appointment such as commandant of Battalion Training School at Pooneryn, Battalion Training Officer, Civil Affairs Officer, Regimental Sports Officer, Detachment Commander of Piduruthalagala / Poonani / Wakeneri, Logistic Officer of Mechanized Infantry Regimental center and Sector Commander of Matale and Nuwaraeliya Districts.

Lt.Col.R.A.R.B.Ramanayake Rsp(Retd) has widened the horizon by following vast number of courses during his tenure in the Army. He has successfully completed Young Officers’ course, Junior Command Course, Senior Officer Leadership course, Combat Leadership course, Unit Administration and Accounts course, Battalion Support weapon course, Small Group Operation and Instructor course (Special Force), In addition, he has completed Military Tactical Warfare Simulation with the US Army along with the Company Commander course. Apart from the military course. During the humanitarian operation, he actively participated for the operation as the commanding officer of 5th Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment and 21st Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard under 59 division and 66 division and in appreciated of his admirable and superlative service in the battlefield he awarded with “Rana Sura Padakkama (Rsp) “ and substantial number of medals by the Sri Lanka Army.
